Youth Forum
Trent Sowell, freshman from Henry High School and from the summer Youth Engagement Project posed several questions of Mayor Rybak in a mock version of a game show at the 2nd Annual Youth Forum hosted at the Minneapolis Park and Recreation headquarters.
It was a fun way to bring out things that were learned from the over 600 youth surveys collected this summer by several Youth Crews including the Camden Youth Krew. A youth panel of experts reminded attendees and guest panelists of a lack of programming in general across the city but especially for the 13-18 year old age group and asked not only for promises for improvements in the community but action from adults in the room.
The Youth Engagement Project is a youth lead initiative and is another exciting collaborative partnership between the Cleveland, Lind-Bohanon, Shingle Creek, and McKinley neighborhood organizations, the Jenny Lind and Lucy Craft Laney Community Education departments, Hennepin County School Success Initiative, and the Youth Coordinating Board, NorthWay Community Trust, Wells Fargo.
