Mississippi Riverfront Connection

The North Mississippi Regional Park and Carl Kroening Interpretive Center(opened in 2002) are great community assets for the whole family to enjoy! On the banks of the Mississippi River, the North Mississippi Regional Park boundaries are from the Camden Bridge (42nd Ave N) to the north City of Minneapolis limits at 53rd Ave N.

Over 100 families called this park home from 1949-1986 at the Mississippi Courts until Interstate 94 went through. This park is also the current home of the Great Blue Heron Rookery.  There are bike and walking paths that will take you from here north to the Coon Rapids Dam. South, they connect you to the Grand Rounds Bike trails, under the Camden Bridge, past the ruins of the long abandon world largest C.A. Smith lumber mill ruins at the mouth of the Shingle Creek as it empties into the Might Mississippi. You can meander west up Shingle Creek, past Shingle Creek Falls, to Webber Park and into Camden. Or just stay in the park and enjoy the large pavillions, totlots, and unique zero depth wading pool.

Along with this park's history, there are many things for the whole family to enjoy. Stop by the Carl Kroening Interpretive Center to enjoy this environmentally focused interpretive center today! Contact them at Carl Kroening: 763-694-7693
