The Lind-Bohanon Neighborhood Association (LBNA), is a 501© (3) nonprofit organization established in 1997. LBNA is a neighborhood-based planning, organizing, and education focused group. Our community is a primarily low-to-moderate-income working class community on the northern edge gateway neighborhood of Minneapolis. LBNA’s mission is to protect and promote neighborhood interests and the health, safety and general welfare of the residents within LBNA’s geographic jurisdiction in a non-partisan, educational, and cooperative manner.
The purpose of the Lind Community Garden, established in 2008, is to help increase the initial impressions of every student and parent that Jenny Lind is a safe and productive school and upheld highly in the hearts of community residents. Along with growing vegetables and meeting others from the community, this garden is intended to help impress potential families as they consider attending Jenny Lind School as a “world class school in a world class neighborhood”. We also hope it will offer an opportunity for teachers, community education and their students to interact with the on-site garden, reduce maintenance for Jenny Lind School and “grow” our community and partnerships. LBNA, with our partners, Jenny Lind School, Jenny Lind Community Education, Volunteers of America Hmong Elders, are proud to work together to grow our community.
